Too $hort Tells Shannon Sharpe Why He Will Never Retire Too $hort was on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, Club Shay. He said at the age of 30 he announced he was retiring (he is now 55) and there was a big promotional push behind his retirement. He said legendary NY DJ Red Alert said to him, you don’t ever see jazz musicians retiring or blues Diana Ross. and Smokey Robinson are still on stage. Why does a rapper have to stop? Too $hort said after that he never thought about retiring again. When you think about an artist retiring, do you mean from putting out new music, touring or both?
