This combination photo shows Timbaland at the 58th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Feb. 15, 2016, left, and Swizz Beatz at the 61st annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The producers host a competition series “Verzuz.” The performances are streamed by artists usually from their homes on Instagram Live, which has become one of the go-to outlets for musicians to reach their fans as many across the world are home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Timbaland and Swizz kicked off the series, followed by other notable matchups like The-Dream and Sean Garrett, Ne-Yo and Johntá Austin, Scott Storch and Mannie Fresh, as well as T-Pain and Lil Jon which drew more than 280,000 live viewers. Swizz Beatz Says ‘Verzuz’ Is Bigger Than ‘SNL’ Swizz Beats and Timbaland were on IG Live going over the last Verzuz between The Isley Brother’s and Earth, Wind and Fire. While commenting about the ‘after show’ that happens between Affion Crockett and Spice Adams, where they recreate moments from the Verzuz, Timbaland said Verzuz is the new SNL. Swizz corrected him and said Verzuz is bigger than SNL. Our numbers beat SNL already. That’s real talk, it’s already happening. While the two shows are not in the same category, in terms of viewership, do you think more people watch Verzuz than SNL?
