Prosecutors rest their case in Derek Chauvin trial

Chauvin Trial Update: Prosecution Rests, Defense Calls First Witnesses After more than two weeks of testimony, the prosecution wrapped up its case Tuesday morning in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. The defense then began making its case, starting with a retired Minneapolis police officer who had previously pulled over George Floyd in 2019. Testimony in the trial is expected to end this week, with closing arguments scheduled for next Monday. Chauvin has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter in connection with Floyd’s death last May.
