Pop Smoke Trial Date Set for Murder Defendant
Corey Walker, the only defendant charged as an adult in the 2020 fatal shooting of Pop Smoke, is set to go on trial on June 25 in Los Angeles.
Walker’s former lawyer claims he did not plan the crime and was only meant to be the driver. Prosecutors allege that Walker facilitated the crimes by surveilling the crime scene, serving as the researcher, getaway driver, weapons provider, and planner of the home invasion robbery.
The now-18-year-old shooter, who confessed to pulling the trigger that killed Pop Smoke, is expected to remain in a juvenile facility until the age of 25. On the fourth anniversary of Pop Smoke’s death, a witness reflected on the rapper’s last moments, recalling him saying he would come back before being shot.
