Kendrick Lamar‘s video shoot for “Not Like Us” in Compton caused financial difficulties for local businesses due to lack of prior notice.

The unannounced filming activities drew large crowds, disrupting business operations and leading to substantial losses for owners. Business proprietors, including Alma’s Place, reported losses of up to $2,200, with some forced to close or operate with minimal foot traffic during the chaos. Criticism was directed at officials for failing to provide advance notice on the film permit, prompting demands for compensation from Lamar, his production company pgLang, or municipal authorities.

Despite the financial strain on local entrepreneurs, representatives for Lamar and pgLang have not responded to requests for comments from affected parties or the press.
