Jermaine Dupri Missed Out On Signing Usher and Bruno Mars Jermaine Dupri says he missed out on signing Usher and Bruno Mars. Dupri posted a video about his misfortune saying, he should’ve signed Usher “from the jump.”  He then points the camera at Usher who says, “but we made history.” Dupri produced Usher’s chart-topping “Confessions” and “Confessions 2.” Dupri had the chance to sign Usher before LaFace.  “I wanted to do it but I didn’t have the bandwidth nor was my vision clear that I have a gift with working with a younger artist,” said Dupri. The Atlanta producer missed out on Bruno Mars as well.  Mars never lets Dupri forget it keeping the missed opportunity as a running joke between them telling him often, “Let them know you had your shot.”  Do you think the Usher/Jermaine Dupri chemistry would have been different if Usher would’ve signed to Durpi’s So So Def?
