Drake in a Wheelchair for ‘Degrassi’ Was Pivotal Representation, Org Says Drake’s “Wheelchair Jimmy” was a pivotal representation, Madeline Robinson, executive director of Wheelchair 4 Kids tells TMZ.  Drake portrayed a student who had gotten shot and was paralyzed then restricted to a wheelchair. Robinson says Drake’s character made kids in wheelchairs “cool” and brought “much-needed representation.” Drake, however, didn’t like his character’s restrictions. One of the writers from Degrassi recently said Drake threatened to quit and demanded his storyline be rewritten because he felt being in a wheelchair made him look “soft.” Later Drake felt an appreciation for his character, the writer noted, “he agreed that his character being in a wheelchair was a powerful moment on TV.” If Drake was to get back into television what type of character should he play?
