Beyoncé Reminds Us What It Means to Be an Innovator

Beyoncé accepted the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday night (April 1) and thanked influential artists like Rosetta Tharpe, Tracy Chapman, Linda Martell, and Prince for defying labels and paving the way for innovation in music.

She emphasized the importance of executing dreams despite challenges and dedicated the award to all the innovators who have “created shifts in the industry.”  Beyoncé expressed hope for more openness in the music industry and acknowledged Stevie Wonder’s support, revealing that he played harmonica on “Jolene” for her new album.

Following the release of her album “Cowboy Carter,” Beyoncé made history on the country music charts and set records for album streams in 2024.
