There will be interactive poetry, a puppet show, photography, massages, face painting, a silent auction, on-stage jam sessions and performances, a dance party, and food and drinks donated by local vendors

• IRS
Small nonprofit organizations at risk of losing their tax-exempt status because they failed to file the required returns for 2007, 2008, and 2009 can preserve their status by filing returns by Oct. 15th, under a one-time relief program.

• Community Action Partnership
The Summer Crisis Program assists eligible households with their summer cooling bills.
Households with members age 60 or older can receive a one-time payment of up to $175 on their current electric bill.  Other households may qualify if a member has a verified health condition that requires air conditioning.

• Community Action Partnership
Applications are being taken to help Montgomery County residents maintain rental housing.  The program seeks to prevent eviction or to establish alternative housing if an eviction is unavoidable
This program is first come-first served and will last until Sept. 30 or until funds are exhausted

• City of Dayton
The City of Dayton’s new False Alarm Ordinance is set to take effect Aug. 4th.
According to the revised Ordinance, the Dept. of Police will cease responding to alarms at any address that has had 7 or more false alarms within the previous 12 months. (This covers burglar alarms only, not robbery, medical, fire or panic alarms.)
All alarm owners will be required to register current info with the City of Dayton and pay a $10 registration fee- call 937-333-1237 to register.
A $50 fine will be imposed for the third false alarm, increasing by $50 each following occurrence to a max of $250,000 for the 7th false alarm and thereafter until the disconnection process is complete.
Alarms can also be disconnected for failure to register an alarm within 90 days of installation, or failure to pay fines when two or more fines are outstanding. (A $25 late fee will be added to any unpaid false alarm fines.)

• City of Dayton Human Relations Council
The Second Generation Procurement Enhancement Program (PEP) for small, minority, female and local business enterprises is now in effect and is aimed at remedying the legally-significant disparities found in a recent Disparity Study of local public and private contracting conducted by MGT of America
The PEP needs Minority, Female and Small Business Enterprises to be certified and companies are encouraged to submit their application for certification

BIG now has applications available for their annual scholarship programs:
Greater Dayton BIG Scholarship- targets recent high school graduates or students who are already enrolled in an institute of higher education
Clessie Health Scholarship- targets the government employee in the administrative field who is working towards obtaining a degree to assist them in obtaining a position with growth potential
Paul Schooler Scholarship- targets government employees in the Greater Dayton area requiring financial assistance to assist them with their educational needs
